Founding Partner
Christopher J. Stanley is a founding partner of Leventhal Stanley & Taylor. He represents plaintiffs and defendants in complex commercial disputes, class actions, and other high stakes litigation.
His practice spans securities and corporate litigation, professional liability, bankruptcy related litigation, constitutional claims, and matters involving significant reputational and business risk. He has represented clients in cases covered by the national press, including litigation arising from the Volkswagen emissions scandal and from Purdue Pharma, L.P.'s sale and manufacturing of prescription opioids. His matters have been resolved through motion practice, trials, appeals, arbitration, and settlements.
Mr. Stanley's pro bono practice includes representing a former prisoner in civil rights litigation under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 and defending federal public defenders against sanctions arising from their advocacy in capital litigation.
Mr. Stanley worked closely with the late Gregory P. Joseph, the nationally recognized trial lawyer whose standards continue to shape the approach of Leventhal Stanley & Taylor to preparing and trying cases. He is the author of a chapter on settlements in Mass Torts in the United States: Strategy and Practice, published by the Mass Tort committee of the American Bar Association.
At the start of his career, Mr. Stanley served as a law clerk to the Honorable Alvin K. Hellerstein of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, and as a law clerk and immigration staff attorney at the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
